Celebrating the Holidays at Westwood Post Acute

Mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, turkey, and pumpkin pie teeter on crowded plates while we go around the table sharing what we’re grateful for. Decorating a Christmas tree, lighting candles on a menorah, or just enjoying the scent of cinnamon and pine and the sound of a crackling fire. Celebrating the new year and the hope, change and opportunity for improvement that it symbolizes. Families and communities coming together to enjoy each other’s company away from the stressors of life.

From our childhood to our adulthood, we love these scenes in our homes around the holiday season, and at Westwood Post Acute, we do what we can to deliver these same experiences to our residents during their stay here. The holidays are a special and magical time, and we love spending them with our amazing residents, not only to celebrate their recovery progress, but to celebrate the amazing people that they are.

While we strive to offer the highest level of post acute and rehab care at Westwood Post Acute, we also understand that our licenses, certifications, and state-of-the-art recovery technology and rehabilitation gym don’t mean much for the recovery of our patients if they aren’t finding happiness and fulfillment in their day-to-day lives. As such, our staff always goes above and beyond to provide the best experience possible for our residents, and there’s no time where that’s more evident than the holiday season.

This year, we enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast that brought our whole community together to celebrate and share gratitude with one another. Aside from the delicious food that we all enjoyed together (which really was delicious!), the most wonderful and magical part of the event was being able to see the smiles on everyone’s faces, hear the laughter in the air, and feel the joy and strength of our recovering patients. Recovery can be difficult at times, and it’s not always easy to see the progress being made, but in spite of that, our patients never fail to amaze us with their strong, bright, and youthful spirits.

This holiday season, we’re grateful for our residents, for the way they continue to inspire us, for the way they trust us with their care and recovery, and for the way they always share their joy with us. Considering how amazing they are, it’s not hard to see why the well-being of our residents is our top priority, and nothing makes us happier than seeing them happy and thriving.

Happy holidays to all our residents and their families, from the staff at Westwood Post Acute!
